Are you contemplating the use of industrial floor paint for your Seattle business? Considering it impacts employee safety, production and wellness, many managers and supervisors believe floor coatings are a worthy investment. As you prep for a renovation of this scope, you’ll want to know how long the coating will last before requiring recoating.
Traffic and Use
Industrial coating, since it’s typically applied in a business setting, sees a lot of daily foot traffic. As such, you can probably see why this coating will degrade at an accelerated rate. At the end of the day, the longevity will largely depend on the nature of the traffic. For example, is it purely foot traffic, or does it include traffic from equipment and machinery, such as forklifts and pallet jacks? With this in mind, flooring paint requires recoating every 15 to 30 years.
Substrate Condition
What’s the overall condition of the floor to be coated? The more maintained the substrate, the greater the lifespan you can expect. Be certain the floor is dry and address any cracks and fractures before beginning the coating process.
Coating and Application
The industrial coating type, as well as how it’s applied, will also make a difference. Low-grade products with just a single coating will wear much more quickly and be susceptible to the effects of traffic. This is why it’s imperative to aim for coatings with multiple layers.
